My sister-in-law has been making these saucy, finger-licking Honey Garlic Chicken Wings for years and I just had to share them with you! Because, who doesn't love chicken wings? And who needs a sporting event as an excuse to serve them?

Saucy honey garlic chicken wings on top of a wooden board with a side of sauce and a pastry brush.

Serve these Honey Garlic Chicken Wings as a starter or as a main. And don't forget to serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing, or simply serve them over rice. You'll find yourself reaching for this recipe during football season and beyond! The sauce on these wings is finger-lickin' good!

How to make the best sauce ever for chicken wings

This is so easy peeps! You're going to marinate these wings in this to-die-for sweet and spicy sauce. Make sure to reserve ¼ of the marinade for basting while baking. Here's what you'll need:

    • ½ cup honey
    • ¼ cup reduced sodium soy sauce
    • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
    • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
    • ¼ cup ketchup
    • ½ teaspoon dried mustard
    • ⅛ teaspoon Tabasco sauce

TIP: For best results, marinate the wings for at least 30 minutes or overnight to develop all of those magical flavors! So, so good!

Rows of seasoned raw chicken wings on a baking sheet ready to be baked in the oven.

Prep the chicken wings with some salt and pepper. Then marinate in the yummy sweet and spicy sauce for 30 minutes.

A set of tongs picking up a saucy baked chicken wing with other wings on a platter ready to be served.

Baste these often while the wings are baking in the oven. Then brush even more on when ready to serve, and top with toasted sesame seeds.

Saucy honey garlic chicken wings piled on top of a wooden cutting board with sauces and celery on the side, on top of a burlap placemat.

Sweet and spicy, you'll want an extra batch of these Honey Garlic Chicken Wings for your next tailgate party! Serve with a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing, and spears of carrots and celery.

These easy Honey Garlic Chicken Wings are finger-lickin' good! They're the perfect tailgate finger food!

    • Total Time: 1 hour 45 min
    • Yield: 6 1x

    Ingredients

    Units Scale
    • 3 lbs. chicken wings (cut into flats and drumettes), rinsed and patted dry
    • 1 teaspoons salt
    • 1 teaspoon pepper
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • ½ cup honey
    • ¼ cup reduced sodium soy sauce
    • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
    • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
    • ¼ cup ketchup
    • ½ teaspoon dried mustard
    • ⅛ teaspoon Tabasco sauce
    • Sesame seeds for garnish

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Season chicken generously with salt, pepper, and paprika. In a large bowl, combine all other ingredients and marinate chicken in ¾ of the marinade mixture either in the bowl or a large ziplock bag for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator. Place chicken in a single layer on a cookie sheet or disposable pan and bake at least 1 to 1 ½ hours until nicely browned and cooked through.
    2. Meanwhile, bring reserved marinade to a boil in a small sauce pan while chicken is in the oven. Reduce heat and simmer marinade for 3 to 4 minutes. Halfway through the cooking process, baste the wings with the marinade at least two times. Sprinkle wings with sesame seeds while hot and ready to serve. Serve with your favorite dressing on the side like ranch or blue cheese, and some spears of carrots and celery!
