What's a summer cookout without hot dogs? Get grilling because these all-beef Hot Dogs with Kimchi Slaw are over the top! Spicy, tangy kimchi slaw is the perfect condiment for these tasty dogs.

Three hot dogs in buns topped with kimchi slaw with potato chips, extra slaw and aioli on the side.

Beef up your hot dog game with a little extra zing! You're going to love how easy it is to make this spicy kimchi slaw topping using store-bought kimchi, shredded carrots, green onions, and cilantro. Every bite is off the charts!

These Hot Dogs with Kimchi Slaw are going to be your fave for outdoor cookouts this summer! Bite after bite of crunchy, spicy goodness in these kimchi hot dogs!

    What exactly is kimchi?

Kimchi is one of those super foods that’s incredibly good for you! Made of salted, fermented vegetables, kimchi is loaded with probiotics (good for your gut!). It’s no wonder it’s a staple of Korean foods. I used Nasoya Kimchi for this recipe post, but there are many options available in the refrigerated section of your grocery store.

How to make spicy kimchi slaw:

The spicy kimchi slaw could not be any easier to make! Just a few steps to a terrific hot dog topping!

    • Chop up 1 cup of store-bought kimchi.
    • Slice the green onions.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the kimchi with shredded carrots, green onions, and cilantro.
    • Let sit for about 15 minutes to incorporate all the flavors.
Grilling four hot dogs on a cast iron grill

I used Trader Joe's Organic Grass-Fed Uncured Beef Hot Dogs for my recipe (because I hate all of the nitrates and yucky stuff that's in your typical hot dog). Made these on my stove-top grill pan and they were grilled to perfection!

These Hot Dogs with Kimchi Slaw are a great twist on the traditional dog. And this crowd-pleaser comes together so quickly that you won't miss out on any of the party antics!

This is one of those incredible hot dog recipes that will be on repeat for years to come! And, if you love kimchi then you need to check out my recipe for Kimchi Grilled Cheese! It's a “grown-up” version of a classic grilled cheese sandwich.

TIPS & TRICKS for making these hot dogs with kimchi slaw

    • I took the easy way out and used store-bought kimchi. But feel free to make your own kimchi from scratch!
    • I'm a stickler for "real" food, so I used organic, all-beef hot dogs without nitrates. Really bad for you! But, who am I to judge?
    • I used my stove-top grill pan to make these dogs, but of course, the outdoor grill is a fantastic option!
    • I made a quick aioli using mayo and Sriracha sauce to add on top for an extra kick (optional). But use whatever extra condiments you'd like (or not!).

    2. Grill the buns if desired.

    Make the Sriracha aioli (optional):

    1. Whisk together the mayonnaise and Sriracha sauce in a small bowl. Set aside.

    Assemble the hot dogs:

    1. Place one hot dog in each bun and top with the kimchi slaw and a dollop of aioli. Serve immediately with a side of your favorite chips or fries!
