It's cocktail season, yay!🍸 I always lean towards refreshing libations this time of year, like this Minty Ginger Gin Fizz Cocktail. It's minty, tart, a little sweet, and so delicious!

What's in your alcohol cabinet? Grab some quality gin (like Bombay Sapphire) for this tasty beverage.

You'll need just a few ingredients for this Minty Ginger Gin Fizz Cocktail: gin, simple syrup, fresh mint leaves, fresh ginger, lime juice, and sparkling water. I used ginger-flavored 365 Whole Foods sparkling water, but lime-flavored will do just fine.

making a minty ginger fizz cocktail with Bombay gin

How to make this refreshing cocktail

    1. Start with two shots (but who's counting?) of gin into a 16-ounce glass container. Go for a good quality gin, like Bombay Sapphire, for this cocktail. I promise, it will make a difference in taste!
    2. Squeeze fresh lime juice from one lime into the container. Fresh lime (or lemon) is always preferable to the ready-lime juice. Plus you'll need the slices for garnish.
    3. Add two shots of simple syrup. Make your own or buy it ready-made. It's so easy to make simple syrup and so much cheaper!
    4. Add in fresh grated ginger. How much you want is really up to you. I like a little kick so I did about one teaspoon of grated ginger.
    5. Pour in your favorite sparkling water. I used ginger-flavored 365 Whole Foods sparkling water because I figured it would work well in this cocktail, but lemon- or lime-flavored sparkling water will be just as good.
    6. Add in the fresh mint leaves and stir the drink. Pour into a pretty cocktail glass filled with ice and garnish with fresh slices of lime.
    7. Drink up!

I used a glass martini shaker to mix up this cocktail. Whatever container or pitcher you have on hand is fine.

    How to make Simple Syrup

Simple syrup is a commonly used ingredient in many cocktails and other drink recipes. It's great to have on hand!

    1. Pour equal parts water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat (ie. 1 cup sugar / 1 cup water).
    2. Stir continuously until sugar dissolves into the water. Cool completely before using.
    3. Store in the refrigerator for up to one month.

I had these pretty crystal Waterford glasses waiting to be used for this refreshing Minty Ginger Gin Fizz Cocktail!

    TIPS & TRICKS:

    • Go for a good quality gin, like Bombay Sapphire, for this cocktail. I promise, it will make a difference in taste!
    • You can make your own simple syrup at home. It only takes about 5 minutes or less to make simple syrup and it's so much cheaper! Make enough so you can use for other drinks. It stays fresh in the fridge for up to one month.
    • Use extra grated ginger if you like a bigger kick in your cocktail.
    • Fill the glass with lots of ice to keep the cocktail nice and chilled!
